Jigawa State High Court No. 6, sitting in Birnin-Kudu, has convicted and sentenced 25-year-old man Habibu Haruna to life imprisonment for raping a 14-year-old girl.
The convict was arraigned before the higher court for luring the girl to his wife’s room at Basirka in Gwaram Local Government Area, where he forcefully had carnal knowledge of her.
The presiding judge, Justice Musa Ubable, found the convict guilty and therefore sentenced him to life imprisonment.
In the hearing stage of the matter, the court heard five witnesses and three exhibits were tendered by the prosecution counsel to prove the case beyond reasonable doubt.
The court sentenced the convict to life imprisonment pursuant to Section 3 Sub-Section 2 and 4 of the Violence Against Persons Prohibition Law, No. 2 Laws of Jigawa State, 2021
