Police parade suspected criminals in Abia, recover guns, others

The Abia State Police Command has paraded some suspected criminals arrested for various offences in the state.

The suspects were paraded at the Abia Police Command headquarters on Friday while some exhibits recovered from them were also displayed to the newsmen.

Earlier in his address, the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) of the Abia State Command, ASP Maureen Chinaka who spoke on behalf of the Commissioner of Police, Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, said the Command has succeeded in reducing the incidents of armed robbery, kidnapping, rape, vandalism of government properties and child trafficking in the state.

The PPRO, who said that 142 males and 20 female suspected criminals were arrested by the Abia State Police Command under the leadership of CP Kenechukwu Onwuemelie, said firearms of different specifications, vehicles, railways sleepers, illicit drugs and vandalized properties were recovered.

Other exhibits recovered from the suspects, according to the Police were Biafran currency and Mozambique currency, Police Camouflage cap among other items.

Additionally, the Police Command said that trafficked children were safely rescued while many suspects have been charged in various courts resulting in successful prosecution.

Some of the suspects who were arrested by the Police, according to the PPRO, include Innocent Nwaeze (29 years) Uchenna Nwoko(32 years) Uzoma Erondo (44 years) Chinyere Nwaja (45 years) and Benjamin Ukaegbu (62 years).

Others are Kingsley Emmanuel (22 years) and Atuloma Emmanuel (20 years) among others.

One of the suspected motorcycle thieves who identified himself as Amadikwa Chigozie from Imo State but resident of Aba, confessed his participation in the theft of a motorcycle but pleaded for forgiveness
