The police officers suspected of being engaged in the alleged attack on a woman in the state a few days ago have been detained by the Rivers state police command.
An online video from Friday, September 1 showed a woman cursing police officers for reportedly beating her sister during a stop-and-search in Rivers State’s Ada George neighborhood, which led to a fractured lip as seen in the video.
In an update shared on its X handle today September 4,the police said
“We want to inform our esteemed friends that the police officers allegedly involved in the incident from the video have been identified and are now in custody as part of our ongoing investigation. We are committed to ensuring a fair and thorough examination of this matter.
However, to ensure transparency and gather all perspectives, we urgently request the lady seen in the video to please come forward and share her side of the story.
