Ebun-Olu Adegboruwa, a legal practitioner, has advised Osun governor-elect Ademola Adeleke to perform well after his inauguration or face rejection later, Charmingpro reports
If the former Senator fails to deliver, the people will vote him out, as they did Governor Gboyega Oyetola.
Adegboruwa, on the other hand, noted that the election produced some troubling issues with lessons for Nigeria.
According to the Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN), the Osun election was not won on the basis of programs, policies, or ideologies.
He chastised the All Progressives Congress (APC) and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) for bringing in musicians to sing and dance “as if entertainment is the engine of good governance.”
Adegboruwa stated that if INEC’s independence is ensured, the will of the people will be established in the leadership recruitment process.
Adegboruwa maintained that the use of technology is critical to the success of the electoral process, particularly for accreditation, voting, transmission, and result collation.
Demanding that no room be given to riggers to corrupt the electoral system, the SAN stated that if votes count, politicians will strive to do better.
“The reign of godfathers in the political space can and should be ended, and Nigeria will see some progress.”
“If there is a credible process of change, no leader who has emerged through the ballot process will ever take the people for granted,” he added.
Adegboruwa emphasized that if Adeleke disappoints after taking office, “the people of Osun will reject him as they have done to the incumbent governor.”
He stated that the only way the winner can be recognized is if he develops programs to ensure development.
“The dancing period ended on Saturday; we want to see results,” the rights activist told the governor-elect.
The statement praised the efforts of the electorate, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), observers, security agencies, and the media.
