Will Smith, an American actor, slapped comedian Chris Rock for making jokes about his wife at the Oscars on Sunday.
“Jada, I love you, ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it,” Chris Rock quipped while presenting the award for best documentary.
Pinkett Smith rolled her eyes, not finding the joke funny because she has been battling Alopecia, an autoimmune illness that causes hair loss.
Will Smith stepped up to the stage shortly after and slapped Rock before returning to his seat.
He also advised Rock to avoid mentioning his wife’s name.
“Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth!” he yelled.
Rock responded: “Oh, wow. I’m going to.”
Meanwhile, Smith won best actor in a leading role in the movie, ‘King Richard’.
While accepting the award, he apologized to the Academy and his fellow nominees for the incident.
