Odunayo Adekuoroye, a Nigerian wrestler, has won a gold medal for Team Nigeria in the women’s 57kg Freestyle wrestling at the ongoing Commonwealth Games in Birmingham, United Kingdom, Charmingpro reports 

The 28-year-old defeated her Indian opponent, Anshu Malik, 6-4 (VPO1), to win Nigeria’s first gold medal in wrestling and defend her title from four years ago.

 

The reigning African champion defeated Canada’s Hannah Taylor in the semi-finals with a swashbuckling 10-0 victory.

Nigeria has won six gold medals, two silver medals, and five bronze medals so far at the Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
