Ifeanyi Ejiofor, Nnamdi Kanu’s lawyer and the leader of his legal team, has stated that the leader of the secessionist group, Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, is concerned about the continued detention of Mrs. Ukamaka Ejezie, also known as Mama Biafra, Charmingpro reports

The 80-year-old woman was reportedly arrested during Kanu’s court appearance in Abuja on May 18, 2022, and has since been in the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS.

Ejiofor, who paid Kanu a visit at the DSS headquarters in Abuja ahead of the resumption of court proceedings on Tuesday (today), said Kanu is concerned that the octogenarian is still in custody.

The lawyer, who provided an update in a statement on Monday, stated that the IPOB leader is fully prepared to appear in court today at the Federal High Court in Abuja.

“Today’s visit was unique because it was essentially to harmonise the final legal strategy for tomorrow’s outing,” he explained. Onyendu is fully prepared and in good spirits for his court appearance tomorrow. We have faith that justice will be served tomorrow as well.

“However, Onyendu is especially concerned about the continued imprisonment of Mrs. Ukamaka Ejezie (Mama Biafra), whose only crime was daring to be in Abuja in solidarity with him.”

“Kanu thanked millions of his supporters and Umuchineke who have stood shoulder to shoulder with him since the beginning of his trial,” Ejiofor writes.
