Nigerian Woman Dies Days After Arriving UK for Child’s Graduation

A Nigerian woman, Mrs. Oluranti Olufunmilayo Esther Akinyemi (née Oluwalana/Ogundana), has tragically passed away less than 20 hours after arriving in the United Kingdom to attend her child’s graduation ceremony.

The news was shared on X by a user identified as SK the Plug, who said Mrs. Akinyemi travelled to the UK on February 11, 2026, in anticipation of her child’s graduation scheduled for February 18.

According to the account, she reportedly suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in the early hours of February 12 and was rushed to Luton and Dunstable University Hospital for urgent medical attention.

She was said to have remained in a coma for three days before being declared clinically dead on February 14.

The incident has sparked an outpouring of grief online, with many expressing condolences to the bereaved family and describing the circumstances as deeply heartbreaking.
