The victim of the weekend fatal stabbing in a Scarborough plaza has been named by Toronto police as a 28-year-old Nigerian student.
Ifeanyichukwu Oseke, the victim, was taken to the hospital in a hurry but passed away from his wounds en route.
Currently, the incident is being handled as a homicide.
The altercation allegedly started on Sunday, June 25, soon after 7 o’clock in the vicinity of Brimley Road and Eglinton Avenue East.
A major injury resulted from a confrontation between two people in the plaza, Toronto Police Service Duty Inspector Jeff Banglid told reporters there.
Police said the male suspect was last seen getting inside of a dark-coloured sedan, heading south on Brimley Road.
The unnamed suspect is described by police as a man with medium-length dark hair, wearing a light-coloured tank top, pants, and shoes.
“It was very populated at the time and we understand there was a number of people that actually had seen this event,” Bangild said, adding police believe it to be an isolated incident with no risk to public safety.
