Nigerian student emerges new world record holder for longest painting marathon

Chancellor Ahaghotu, a Nigerian student at Atlanta’s Savannah College of Art and Design, has been named the new Guinness World Record holder for the longest painting marathon.

GWR stated on Wednesday on its official Twitter account that Ahaghotu had broken its 10-year-old record during a 100-hour marathon painting session.

“After painting for 100 consecutive hours, Chancellor Ahaghotu, a Nigerian art student has broken a decade old record for the longest painting marathon” , the Government of Nigeria (GWR) reported.

Ahaghotu created 106 paintings portraying celebrities, plants, animals, and food items.

When asked about his latest accomplishments, Ahaghotu claimed that the artwork symbolises “my different mood and feeling.”

“When I finished the 100 hours, there was joy and celebration.” It was a new experience for me, and I’m delighted I got through it.”

Roland Palmaerts, a Belgian painter, held the previous record in 2013 after painting for 60 hours.
