Niger State Governor, Mohammed Umaru Bago, has sympathised with the Nigerian Army over the killing of a captain and five soldiers in an ambush by bandits.

He described the incident as atrocious, provocative and unacceptable.

The governor stated this in a statement signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Bologi Ibrahim, and made available to journalists in Minna on Sunday.

Expressing his deepest sympathy with the security agencies, he noted, “They are daily making sacrifices to ensure the safety of citizens, with most of them paying the supreme price.”

Bago assured the Nigerian Army and every other conventional and non-conventional security agency that his administration will not rest on its oars in providing all the needed support towards halting the nefarious activities of bandits.

He also then commiserated with the families of the slain officer and men, as well as a vigilante, promising that their deaths would not be a waste.

DAILY POST recalls that bandits on Friday waylaid and killed some security personnel, comprising a captain, soldiers, and a vigilante, while on their way to respond to a distress call around Bassa and Alawa communities in Shiroro Local Government Area of Niger State
