The National Agency for Food and Drugs Administration and Control (NAFDAC) has announced a ban on Indomie Noodles Vegetable Flavour after discovering the presence of undeclared allergens that could pose serious health risks.
According to NAFDAC, the affected product contains milk and eggs, allergens that were not declared on the product label. This omission poses a significant danger to individuals with food allergies or intolerances.
In a public alert issued on Friday and cited by TVC News, the agency said the ban followed a recall notice from France’s food safety authority, Rappel Conso. The recall applies to all batches of the product with a best-before date of February 6, 2026, and was communicated under Public Alert No. 041/2025.
NAFDAC noted that while the likelihood of the product circulating widely in Nigeria is low—due to the Federal Government’s ban on the importation of noodles—the agency has intensified surveillance nationwide to prevent illegal entry. This includes monitoring potential access through online purchases, international travel, or informal import routes.
The agency disclosed that zonal directors and state coordinators have been instructed to closely monitor markets and immediately remove the affected product if found.
NAFDAC also urged distributors, retailers, and consumers to remain vigilant and to avoid the sale, distribution, or consumption of the recalled Indomie Vegetable Flavour noodles, emphasizing its commitment to protecting public health and food safety.
