On Sunday, October 2, a 50-year-old man who has yet to be identified was burnt to death after a fire razed a 25-room building located at 48, Jagunmolu Street, Bariga area in Lagos state, Charmingpro reports.

 

Mrs. Margaret Adeseye, Director of Lagos State Fire Service, confirmed the incident, saying the agency received a distress call around 3:19 a.m. and firemen were immediately dispatched to the location. She also stated that they received a fire call at 19 Apata Street, Shomolu, at 12:31 a.m.

 

“The Shomolu fire involved four rooms and three shops in a bungalow building with eight rooms and four shops, whereas the Bariga fire involved ten rooms in a bungalow building with 25 rooms and 18 shops.”

“A preliminary investigation revealed that negligence was the underlying cause of both fires, which resulted in an electrical surge as reported shock was witnessed at Shomolu prior to the arrival of the firefighters,” she said.
