The Lagos State Police Command has indicated that it may invite the Senior Pastor of the Mountain of Liberation and Miracles Ministries, Pastor Chris Okafor, for questioning following allegations circulating widely on social media.
According to police sources, the move is being considered in response to growing public pressure and sustained attention the claims have generated within religious and entertainment circles. The Commissioner of Police has consequently directed the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) to carry out a preliminary fact-finding exercise.
The police command, however, has not disclosed the specific nature of the allegations prompting the directive.
Confirming the development, the Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, clarified that the action is not linked to the alleged sex-scandal claims recently made by Nollywood actress Doris Ogala. She emphasized that no formal petition has been filed by any alleged victim.
“The CP did not order a probe into sex-scandal allegations. There are different allegations being levelled against the man, and we are not aware of any formal complaint,” Adebisi stated.
She explained that the decision to initiate preliminary inquiries was driven by persistent public reactions and multiple claims touching on other related issues. According to her, the SCID has been tasked with determining whether the allegations have any factual basis.
“The idea is to invite him and ask him to respond to what we have heard. If there are witnesses who can actually confirm these claims, they will also be invited,” she added.
The police reiterated that the exercise is strictly preliminary and aimed at establishing facts, stressing that due process would be followed in line with the law.
