Annarita Iwelu, a relative of Samuel Iwelu, one of the victims of the Ikoyi building collapse on November 1, said her brother died less than 10 minutes after he stopped filming his normal Whatsapp stories in his car.

Sammy shared his video on Whatsapp at 12:48 (UK time), which is 13:48 local time, according to Annarita Iwelu, and the collapse occurred at 13:56 local time, according to CNN’s Steph Busari.

She went on to say that a single phone call could have gotten him back in the car, and a 10-minute delay may have gotten them to see each other again. The deceased’s sister also revealed that “Sammy and Mr Femi Osibona had gotten back into the car before Wale Bob arrived”, which made them go back in.

Iwelu wrote;

Less than 10mins between being in the car and the building collapsing!

Sammy and Mr Femi were said to have gotten back into the car when Wale Bob arrived which led them to go back in.

From the video #Sammyblessed1 posted at 12:48 uk which is 13:48 local time and the collapse at 13:56 local time as reported by @stephbusari was 10mins or so.

My brother stopped to record his usual WhatsApp stories which clearly placed him at the site.
:
One phone call could have been the difference between you going back in or staying in the car. 10mins delay could have been the difference between me see you again.

We pray that the Lords goodness and mercy should follow us all the days of our lives.

One phone call could have kept you in the car longer!
