Kano rejects FG’s sharing formula for 500 billion Palliative, says it benefits Lagos more

Kano governor

Kano State’s Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf has objected to the federal government’s distribution scheme for the recently authorized N500 billion palliative.

The federal government had declared that it will employ the Bank of Industry to help microbusinesses in all geopolitical regions.

Through his deputy, Comrade Aminu Abdussalam, Governor Yusuf commented on the sharing formula and claimed that it was excessively biased in favor of Lagos state and the South-South zone at the expense of other states and zones.

He noted that Lagos will be receiving 47% of the allocation, followed by the South-South Zone with 17%, with other regions receiving significantly lower percentages.

“This is unfair, unconstitutional, and illegal,” Yusuf said during a meeting with representatives from the Kano Cooperative Society at the state government house. He called on relevant authorities, including members of the National Assembly to rectify the situation and take appropriate action against those responsible.
