Kaduna school abduction: Senator Lawal raises alarm over increase bandit attacks

Worried by bandits attack and abduction of school pupils, the lawmaker representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Senator Lawal Adamu Usman, has raised the alarm over continuous bandit attacks in Kaduna and its environs

Senator Lawal, who was saddened over the abduction of over 200 students of a secondary school at Kuriga, Chikun Local government Area of Kaduna State on Thursday, noted that in the last few weeks of the year 2024, Kaduna Central Senatorial Zone had witnessed escalation of tensions as result of terrorist attacks, killings and abductions in several communities in Kajuru, Chikun, Birnin-Gwari, Giwa and Igabi Local governments.

In a statement issued and signed on Thursday evening, Senator Lawal said the spate of gruesome attacks and abductions in recent days has demoralized the citizens and further put them in a traumatic condition without any insight of a sign of relief.

“Today, I am saddened and in a stage of rude shock on the abduction of pupils of primary school and Students of Secondary School at Kuriga, Chikun Local government area along the dreaded Birnin-Gwari-Kaduna highway,” he said.

“As a Senator representing the area, I extend my deepest sympathy to all the parents and families of the pupils and Students abducted at Kuriga and all those that loss their precious Lives.

“Although our security forces are working assiduously to bring our children back safely, I urged governments at all levels and our security forces to be more proactive, rather than reactive in dealing decisively with miscreants terrorizing our communities,” it said.

According to him, despite all the efforts and successes recorded by the security forces to curtail attacks by terrorists there is the need to take the fight to the door step of the terrorist enclave
