ISWAP Confirms Killing of Brigade Commander Uba After Hours of Search

The Islamic State West Africa Province (ISWAP) has confirmed the killing of the Brigade Commander of Damboa, General Uba, barely hours after he was declared missing during a military operation in the forested axis of Borno State.

Military sources disclosed that the officer had earlier sent a reassuring video to colleagues, appearing calm and unhurt. They explained that the clip was recorded before his situation worsened.

According to Daily Post, the commander reportedly became disoriented while navigating the terrain, prompting an immediate search-and-rescue operation involving both ground forces and air support.

At some point, he informed colleagues that he was already making his way back to base, raising hopes that he would be found alive. But shortly after news of his disappearance spread, ISWAP fighters reportedly intercepted him again.

His death was later confirmed.

The Army had earlier announced that the commander had safely returned to base—an update now contradicted by emerging details surrounding the incident.
