  • 2 cups stockfish and dry fish (washed and deboned)
  • 2 tablespoons palm oil
  • 2 tablespoons ground crayfish
  • 2 seasoning cubes
  • 1 teaspoon ogiri Igbo (optional, for a rich traditional flavor)
  • 1 teaspoon ground pepper
  • 1 teaspoon salt (adjust to taste)
  • 2 cups water or meat stock

Step-by-Step Preparation of Oha Soup

Step 1: Boil the Meat and Fish

  1. Wash the assorted meats thoroughly and place them in a pot.
  2. Season with salt, one seasoning cube, and some ground pepper.
  3. Add some water and allow to cook until tender.
  4. Add the stockfish and dry fish, and let them cook together for 5-7 minutes.

Step 2: Prepare the Cocoyam Paste

  1. Wash and boil the cocoyam until soft.
  2. Peel off the skin and pound using a mortar and pestle (or blend with little water) to form a smooth paste.

Step 3: Cook the Soup

  1. Add the palm oil into the pot of cooked meat and fish.
