How South-East Nigeria lost over 4trn naira over IPOB’s sit-at-home orders

Deputy Speaker, Benjamin Kalu

According to statistics cited by the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Kalu, the Indigenous People of Biafra’s call for a sit-at-home protest cost the south-east geopolitical zone N4 trillion over the course of two years.

During a meeting with the Ndigboamaka Progressive Markets Association in Lagos, Kalu declined to say which organization released the data or how it was calculated.

He stated that the Monday sit-at-home edict should be discontinued since it has destroyed enterprises and stunted economic progress in the five eastern states.

The Deputy Speaker said;

“The existential threat to Igbo entrepreneurship and businesses now is the insecurity and sit-at-home problem in the south-east. The mutation of this problem is largely unfathomable. It is becoming a cankerworm that is eating deep into our collective fortune as a people.

“If I do not tell you the truths as your son, then it will be difficult for anyone in governance from Ala-Igbo to tell you. I am pained by what our dear land has become. We have to be honest and sincere with ourselves. I make a heartfelt plea to every one of you.

“We cannot afford to retreat from our business endeavours. The stay-at-home order on Mondays has resulted in staggering losses of N4 trillion in the last two years in the south-east alone according to statistical data.”

Reacting to the news, one Barney Ken Jnr wrote, “This idiots in government are talking nonsense, you know the issues in SE, what have you done, late NZE amaechi WENT To beg BUHARI as the oldest nze in Nigerias politics but he never released MNK, HE DIED and his request were never answered. have you all gone to DSS to see him and ask him to get things calm and let there be a free online press or message from MNK that no seat at home, you all have pride and talking nonsense while people are dying in the East, pride will render People useless, because you are loyal to the government doesn’t mean you should be one sided, the truth is this RELEASE THIS guy? FG Released REPENTANT BOKO HARAM members to the society and recruit them in the army as well, what is difficult to release MNK and see who will give that seat at home order again, because seat at home is coming form different angles all in the name for MNK. The source of the problem should be handled not talking around the environs of the problem. Wisdom indeed is key, if you had PO AND DATTI AHMED all this matter for don end , men who has compassion humility, character, competence and sympathy are men who will handle any situation, OGA go to the root cause of the seat at home not coming here to say SE LOST MONEY, fix the source of the problem not talking on top of the problems. The problem we have in Nigeria is we don’t like the truth but we want sincerity and clarity , how is that possible? You claim to be a SPEAKER IN HOR, have you gone to see your kings men to visit MNK? you feel to big or thing you can find justice ontop an unjust process, we really lack wisdom in this country. Madness everywhere”

One Fayokun Olajide wrote, “Congratulations… we dont really give a fuck about that even its hit 100 trillion. That is southeast lose, if una like destroy the whole southeast, heaven will not shake”

One Apha_Moggie wrote, “Why are u being a hypocrite bruv, u know releasing Nnamdi Kanu will help contain dis madness in d east but u ain’t saying anything in dat direction, so wat is the solution u are proposing? U are talking about our collective pain in d east which we all already know, use ur status to preach d right peace and bring solution Dan playing to the gallery.”

One Papi_damillie wrote, “The Sit-at-Home has caused more of havoc for those residing in the SE than any benefit they felt it could have been. Likewise terrorizing and killing your fellow south easterners is the most horrific thing to do.”
