The Federal Ministry of Education has launched a nationwide digital learning initiative, Inspire Live(s) Online Real-Time Classes, aimed at widening access to quality education and tackling persistent teacher shortages across Nigeria.
The programme, which aligns with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, provides structured online lessons for learners from Primary 1 to Senior Secondary 3.
According to Education Minister Tunji Alausa, the full rollout has begun with JSS and SSS classes, running Mondays to Fridays, 8:00 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., and delivered live by certified master teachers using the Cisco Webex platform.
Subjects available to JSS students include Mathematics, English, Basic Science, ICT, Business Studies, Civic Education, and others.
For SSS students, subjects include Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, Economics, Technical Drawing, ICT, and Literature, among others.
The ministry has directed State Commissioners for Education to:
- Appoint state-level focal officers,
- Circulate programme details to school principals,
- Ensure schools have functional ICT infrastructure and internet access, and
- Oversee student registration through designated Inspire support channels.
The government emphasised that the online classes are open to both public and private schools, reinforcing its push for inclusive access to digital education nationwide.
