South African singer, Tyla, has won the Afrobeats Artiste of the year award at the 2025 Amrican Music Awards, AMAs.
Tyla defeated popular artistes like; Wizkid, Tems, Rema and Asake to win the Favorite Afrobeats Artist Award at the 2025 American Music Awards.
She has now won 36 awards in 18 months.

Fans of the other artistes who were nominated took to social media to react to her winning. “She’s not an Afrrobeat artist.” one wrote. They then continued; “They should add Amapiano to their genres because these two genres aren’t the same, we need to correct the Americans before we have more “Babimba Tribe” situation.”

Meanwhile, Billie Eilish dominated the night, sweeping all seven of her nominations including Artist of the Year, Album of the Year, and Song of the Year, making her the top winner of the event.
