EPL: You don’t have to play like kids – Maresca tells Chelsea players

Chelsea defender Malo Gusto has revealed that manager Enzo Maresca suggested they were playing like children in the first half of their 6-2 win against Wolves over the weekend.

Chelsea were expected to respond to a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City in their opening game of the season but went into the break against Wolves with the scoreline level at 2-2.

The West London side returned to the second half reinvigorated and scored four goals in the second half to secure a healthy win.

Speaking to Sky Sports about Maresca’s halftime pep talk, the Frenchman said, “We didn’t play perfectly because the first half was hard for us.

“The coach said to the team, we don’t have to play like a child sometimes, we have to be more focused.”

The Italian gaffer had also spoken about his team’s performance, telling GOAL,
“…I want to see my team play the way we want to play and compete every game.

“This is the most important thing. I want to see on the ball a clear idea of what they want; and off the ball, a very aggressive .”
