Khalifa Muhammadu Sanusi II, the deposed emir of Kano, met privately with General Tchani, the head of the military junta in the Niger Republic, to discuss the situation there.
It is unclear in what capacity Sanusi II traveled to Niger, which has broken diplomatic ties with Nigeria and is currently engaged in a conflict with ECOWAS.
