Danan adopted a more streamlined style that retained a hint of quirky appeal, departing from her trademark large silhouettes and whimsical design. The strong likeness of one model to Danan herself or another to Yves Saint Laurent was not the only reason for this.
Her mother’s pearls were used to accent a unique ruffled black dress with an irregular hem, felted wool button-downs and matching trousers, and a floor-length plaid toggle coat worn over a cashmere “sweatsuit.” Every outfit, whether it was prim, ultra-feminine, or even masculine, had an off-kilter element that somehow seemed just right.
