Grammy-winning American singer Ciara has arrived in Lagos, Nigeria, to participate in the 15th-anniversary celebration of Lagos Fashion Week and embark on a cultural and artistic tour of the city
The Senior Special Assistant on New Media to the Lagos State Governor, Jubril Gawat, confirmed her arrival in a statement, noting that she was received by the Lagos State Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka.
Gawat wrote: “International Superstar, Grammy Award Winner, Ciara Princess Wilson @ciara is in Lagos, accompanied by the Commissioner for Tourism, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka. She will be joining us in Lagos to celebrate our tourism, our art, and our culture.”
Ciara’s visit will see her immerse herself in the city’s vibrant creative scene, exploring major cultural landmarks and engaging with local designers and artists. Her presence is being described as a symbolic “homecoming,” underscoring Lagos’ growing reputation as a global center for innovation, fashion, and culture.
Her itinerary includes attending Lagos Fashion Week, where she will join other industry leaders in celebrating 15 years of African fashion excellence.
Gawat added: “It’s a homecoming for her and other creatives who see Lagos as home. She will visit different cultural sites in Lagos and celebrate the successful hosting of the 15th anniversary of Lagos Fashion Week in collaboration with the Lagos State Government.”
Now in its 15th year, Lagos Fashion Week has become a premier showcase for African designers and creativity, strengthening Lagos’ position as a major fashion and cultural hub on the continent.
Ciara’s visit is expected to further promote Lagos as Africa’s creative capital and highlight the city’s influence on global fashion and entertainment.
