Chidimma Onwe Adetshina, Nigeria’s bet at the on going 73rd Miss Universe in Mexico has done nothing but made us all proud.

We are excited to watch her perform live at the grand finale; her trip through Mexico has been a celebration of flair, elegance, and culture.

Her stunning national costume, the Nwanyi-Njiko, designed by Abanobi Emmanuel Ifechukwu and Modela Couture, was unveiled during the National Costumes exhibition, and it was one of the highlights of her tour.

Miss Universe Nigeria claims that this ensemble is a celebration of tradition, strength, and unity rather than merely a costume. Each component of the ensemble has a profound meaning and is made from more than 10,000 coral pearls, cowrie shells, stones, feathers, and raffia. The beautiful beads stand for solidarity, wealth, success, bravery, and tenacity, while the helmet symbolizes authority and ancestry.

The stones and shells symbolise wealth and protection, deeply connecting her to the earth, and the raffia speaks of her strong roots to the land. With a staff in hand, Chidimma embodies wisdom and leadership, presenting herself as a symbol of African royalty.

Another highlight of the National Costumes presentation was her Sisi Eko ensemble, which was created by Sé Adeoye. According to Miss Universe Nigeria, the National Theatre and the famous Third Mainland Bridge are hand-painted as a tribute to Lagos. The group represents optimism, fresh starts, and the tenacity and fortitude of the city.

Chidimma also dazzled at the Preliminary Competition in a stunning Verdant Eclipse dinner gown designed by Maryam Elisha. The emerald gown, embellished with more than two million glittering sand beads, is a reflection of Nigeria’s strength and elegance, according to Miss Universe Nigeria. Grace, classic beauty, and the depth of our cultural diversity are all embodied in its brilliance.
