The Delta State All Progressives Congress, APC, Gubernatorial Campaign Committee has said Dr Cairo Ojuogbo has been expelled from the party.
Deputy Director, Media and Publicity Committee, Dr Tonye Timi, disclosed this in a statement signed and made available to newsmen
The APC noted that Ojuogbo was expelled by the Executive Committee of Ward 6, Ika South Local Government Area Executive Committee and finally by the State Executive Committee (SEC), who recognised and understood the danger he posed by his disruptive actions to the growth and success of the party.
The APC said, “We have watched with disgust the shameful vituperation of Dr. Cairo Ojougbo, the expelled and now former member of our party, the APC, on Sen. Ovie Omo-Agege, our Gubernatorial candidate.
“Dr Ojougbo spent nearly an hour on Arise TV pouring invectives on our candidate and principal Ovie Omo-Agege. We have observed too that Dr Cairo has been travelling the media circuit looking for a free board to vilify our candidate in order to demoralize and discourage his teeming APC partisans from supporting his rightful bid to recover his mandate stolen in broad daylight by a brigand PDP in connivance with INEC.
“We understand that Dr Cairo Ojougbo is on a paid assignment to engage in a media tour to demoralize and dispirit the members and operatives of the APC, devitalize the massive public support for Ovie Omo-Agege and undermine his case before the Delta State election petition tribunal. This, as has been observed, is a campaign of disruption paid for by disruptors.
“Many concerned citizens and voters have called in to express disgust at the many lies and fabrications against Omo-Agege by Dr Cairo, and we have given our assurances that we recognize his contrived disruptions but that we remain focused on the recovery of the mandate given to Ovie Omo-Agege in the governorship election of 18th March 2023 but now stolen by the rascals and brigands of PDP.
“We will not be distracted in the pursuance of this course by Dr Cairo and other mischief makers like him, neither will we allow our candidate to be reduced to the level of drug-induced gangster behaviours for which Cairo has gained notoriety in the national arena across two decades.
“We recall vividly Dr Cairo Ojougbo’s rampage and snatching of a ballot box during the PDP National Convention at Eagle Square, Abuja, in 2001, right in the presence of the President of Nigeria.
“No we will not accept for the Deputy Senate President of Nigeria, Obarisi Omo-Agege to condescend to the level of a notorious disruptor and brigand, Dr. Cairo Ojougbo and engage in a humiliating public disorder with him.”
