Nigeria’s Rivers United FC secured a narrow 1-0 victory over the USM Alger in the TotalEnergies CAF Confederation match in Uyo on Sunday.

They pipped the visitors by a lone goal in their first leg quarter-finals clash played at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium.

The Garden City darling team took the match to their opponents from the kick-off and scored their only goal in the eighth minute through Okejepha Augustine.

They, however, failed to increase the tally as they missed several scoring chances through poor finishing.

Meanwhile, in other matches played on Sunday, Dreams FC defeated Stade Malien 2-1 in an away clash.

Zamalek SC also defeated Future FC 2-1 in an away fixture.

Abu Salim SC and RS Berkane played out a 0-0 draw.

The return leg fixtures will take place next Sunday
