Nigeria midfielder Frank Onyeka registered an assist in his maiden Bundesliga appearance as Augsburg defeated St. Pauli 3-1.

Onyeka joined the Bundesliga club on a season-long loan deal from Brentford on transfer deadline day.

The 26-year-old, who trained with his teammates for the first time on Friday, was surprisingly named in the starting line-up by manager Jess Thorup.

The defensive midfielder teed up Philip Tietz for Augsburg’s second goal in the 66th minute.

Onyeka was in action for 83 minutes in the game.

The defensive midfielder was replaced by Arne Maier.

The win was Augsburg’s first in the Bundesliga this season
