In Jigawa State’s Birniwa Local Government Area, bandits attacked immigration officers, killing one and injuring two others, Charmingpro reports

ACG Ismail Abba Aliyu, State Comptroller of the Nigerian Immigration Service, stated this on Wednesday during a press conference at the NIS Headquarters in Dutse.

He claimed that the bandits attacked the officers while they were on patrol along the Galadi-Birniwa axis.

According to him, the incident occurred on Tuesday, August 9, 2022, at approximately 2320hrs, when a group of about five bandits arrived at the patrol base on two motorcycles and attacked the officers.

“One was carrying three people and the other was carrying two people, and upon arrival, they opened fire on the Immigration officers on patrol, killing one of the staff members named Abdullahi Mohammed (CIA) and injuring two others.”

According to him, the injured officers are Abba Musa Kiyawa (DSI) and Zubairu Garba (AII), while three other officers escaped the attack after a run-in with the bandits.

According to Abba, the bandits fled into the bush after exchanging fire, abandoning their motorcycles and handset.

He stated that the two injured employees were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The recovered motorcycles and handset, according to the comptroller, will be turned over to police for further investigation.

He also urged citizens to provide security agencies with any useful information that will aid in the arrest of criminals.
