Autopsy Confirms M¥rder of Former Ondo SDP Governorship Candidate Akingboye; Seven Family Members Re-Arrested Over Suspicious ₦50m Transfer

The Lagos State Police Command has officially confirmed that former Social Democratic Party (SDP) governorship candidate in Ondo State, Bamidele Akingboye, was m¥rdered.

Lagos Commissioner of Police, CP Olorundare Jimoh, disclosed to Channels Television that the autopsy and toxicology examinations have been concluded, giving investigators the crucial evidence needed to push the case forward.

According to him, findings from the September 11 autopsy prompted detectives to re-arrest seven of the fourteen family members earlier questioned over the politician’s d+ath. The suspects remain in custody pending legal advice from the Directorate of Public Prosecution (DPP).

The State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Panti, Yaba, had previously detained and interrogated nine relatives and domestic aides after inconsistencies emerged regarding the circumstances surrounding Akingboye’s demise. A key red flag was the alleged transfer of ₦50 million from the deceased’s bank account, reportedly shared among some immediate family members.

“With the toxicology report completed, we now await the DPP’s advice so prosecution can begin against anyone found culpable,” CP Jimoh stated.

Akingboye d+ed under unclear circumstances on September 3. Relatives claimed his b@dy was discovered in the backyard of his Lagos residence, prompting his first son, Samuel Akingboye, to alert authorities and demand a full-scale investigation.

CP Jimoh reiterated the Command’s resolve to pursue the case to its logical conclusion and ensure justice is delivered without compromise.
