Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate for president, appeared during the Presidential Election Petitions Court’s (PEPC) hearing of petitions and applications in Abuja.

The tribunal will hear petitions disputing the results of the February 25th presidential election as well as requests made by Atiku and the PDP requesting live broadcast of court proceedings.

In particular, Atiku and the PDP are requesting that the court issue an order instructing the parties and the court’s registry on the rules governing the entry of media professionals and their equipment into the courtroom.

The application filed on their behalf by their team of lawyers led by Chris Uche, SAN, is predicated on the grounds that the matter before the court is a dispute over the outcome of the Presidential Election held on Feb. 25.

They argue that the matter is of national concern and public interest and that involving citizens and voters in the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, who voted and participated in the said election is important.
