Asari Dokubo Calls for Court-Martial of Naval Officer Over Clash With Wike

Former Niger Delta militant leader, Asari Dokubo, has called for disciplinary action against the naval officer who confronted the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, during a recent land dispute in Abuja.

The incident, which occurred on Tuesday, November 11, involved a naval officer who reportedly acted on the orders of former Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Awwal Gambo (retd.), preventing Wike and his team from gaining access to a disputed property. The confrontation quickly escalated into a heated exchange.

Reacting in a Facebook live session, Asari said the officer’s conduct was “unprofessional and unlawful,” insisting that he should be court-martialled.

According to Asari, “The confrontation between the military man and the Minister of the FCT is uncalled for. The Minister is the governor of the FCT and the chief security officer of Abuja. That fellow ought to have been reprimanded and detained.”

He further emphasized that no military personnel is above the constitution, adding that Wike acted within his powers by visiting the site to enforce due process regarding the land’s ownership and development.
