Ahead of the Anambra State local government elections, the ruling All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, is in disarray.

It could be recalled that the Anambra State Independent Electoral Commission (ANSIEC) finally expressed readiness to conduct the much-anticipated local government polls.

The election will be the first 10 years after the last one was conducted by former governor, Mr Peter Obi.

Indigenes of the state have all along been yearning for Local Government elections, calling on successive governors to conduct it to give the people at the grassroots a sense of belonging.

The exercise is slated for 28 September.

There have been pockets of complaints from various political parties about the promptness of the election.

Most of the political parties, including Labour Party (LP), All Progressives Congress (APC) have complained about the process.

While some parties have vowed to boycott the process, others are already thinking of dragging the state government to court.

Meanwhile, APGA, which is the party in power in the state, is also in deep crisis.
