Operatives of the Osun Western Security Network Agency, Amotekun Corps, have apprehended a suspect, Mojeed Olanrewaju, for alleged motorcycle theft.

The 29-year-old was arrested, according to the security outfit, for stealing a motorcycle in Ikire, Irewole Local Government Area of the state on Wednesday.

Confirming the arrest to newsmen, the Osun Amotekun Corps Commander, Brigadier General Bashir Adewinmbi on Thursday in Osogbo revealed that the arrested was effected after its personnel swung into action after residents of Ilupeju Community in Ikire alerted the security outfit.

“It was in the course of carting away the motorcycle that the owner saw him and alerted the security outfit at the Ikire Command.

“Immediately the Osun Amotekun operatives were alerted, they swung into action and apprehended the culprit,” he said.

Upon interrogation, Adewinmbi revealed that the culprit confessed to the crime and explained that he had indulged in motorcycle theft for a long time.

“The culprit also explained that he always sells the stolen motorcycles to one Baba Dele, who is Ibadan-based, in the sum of N100,000 and N80,000, and he had been jailed for two years for the same offence in 2019.

“He will be handed over to the police for further investigation and prosecution,” Adewinmbi concluded
