With the battle for governorship in Ondo State heating up, Sola Ebiseni, Secretary-General of the pan-Yoruba socio-political organisation Afenifere, has stated his desire to run for the state’s top position.
According to Ebiseni, he is the finest person to manage the state because of his orientation and knowledge of the state.
While calling the upcoming November 16, 2024, election as a watershed moment for the state, Afenifere’s scribe highlighted that all past governors of the state were nurtured and affected by Awolowo’s beliefs.
During an interview with media, the lawyer and former state commissioner insisted that understanding the people and the land was critical for the state’s development.
Ebiseni emphasised the urgent need for the state’s economy to diversify away from its over-reliance on federal allocations, emphasising that it was the only way for the state to break free from economic shackles.
“If you follow the trajectory of governance since the Ajasin era, our state has had the rare privilege of being governed by governors who are not only intellectually suave, grounded in their chosen careers, thoroughly bred, and groomed in the ideology of the Awolowo school of thought, but also thoroughly bred and groomed in the ideology of the Awolowo school of thought.”
The development of our state also requires being fully acquainted with the territory and the people. Such knowledge affords the new manager, the opportunity to determine the location of resources, create wealth therefrom, and fairly allocate them without undue concentration in one or a few places.”
