The Adamawa State House of Assembly on Tuesday raised concerns over alleged killing of two young men by security personnel operating in the Mubi South Local Government Area.

Personnel of the Nigerian Army and of the Nigerian Customs Services allegedly shot and killed two youths at the Nasarawo Ward of the Mubi South LGA at the weekend.

At its sitting on Tuesday, the Adamawa State House of Assembly condemned the alleged killing of the youngsters.

A motion on the incident, in its four-point resolutions adopted during the sitting, advised the security agencies to carry out their activities with professionalism.

The resolution, which wondered why the security personnel would operate checkpoints within the Mubi metropolis, asserted that they should be at border stations.

The resolution further urged the security agencies to address multiple checkpoints within Mubi.

The adopted prayers were earlier tabled before the Assembly by the member representing Mubi South constituency, Sahabo Jauro, while moving the motion as a matter of urgent public importance.

He told the lawmakers during the Tuesday sitting that the deceased youths were shot and killed as they were conveying petrol on their respective motorbikes from filling stations in metropolitan Mubi to their respective rural settlements.

Alleging that his people are frequently harassed by security agents, the lawmaker said that in the case of the two boys that were killed, “the security agencies opened fire on them after sighting them separately conveying fuel to their communities on motorcycles.”
