“You’ll Finally See 24/7 Light” — Wode Maya Subtly Shades Nigeria as Shank Comics Heads to Ghana

Popular Ghanaian YouTuber and content creator, Wode Maya, has stirred reactions online after making a cheeky comment that many Nigerians have interpreted as a subtle dig at the country’s long-standing electricity challenges.

The moment unfolded on X (formerly Twitter) after Nigerian skit maker Shank Comics announced that he was travelling to Ghana for the first time. Sharing his excitement, Shank wrote, “I will be in Ghana today. First time ever. I’m excited,” alongside the Ghanaian flag.

Reacting to the post, Wode Maya quoted Shank’s tweet and replied, “You are finally about to experience 24/7 electricity for the first time in your lifetime,” adding a laughing emoji.

While the comment was clearly delivered in a humorous tone, it quickly sparked mixed reactions across social media. Some users found it funny and light-hearted, seeing it as friendly banter between creatives, while others viewed it as an unnecessary jab at Nigeria’s persistent power supply issues.

The exchange has since gone viral, reigniting conversations around electricity reliability in West Africa and highlighting how power supply remains a sensitive—and often joked-about—topic in Nigeria.
