Hausa man arrested for stealing school desks

A man identified as Umar Abubakar has been arrested for allegedly stealing school desks from Yelwan Kundum Primary School in Bauchi Local Government Area of Bauchi State.

The arrest was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary of the Bauchi State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Abdulmuminu Jibrin, while briefing journalists on Wednesday.

According to Jibrin, the suspect was apprehended by security operatives on Friday night after community leaders in the area reported the theft.

“The arrest of the suspect was made by the security agents after a report from the community leaders. The board is ready to ensure that justice prevails to serve as a deterrent to others,” Jibrin stated.

He emphasized that SUBEB would continue working closely with security agencies and community leaders to protect school property from thieves and vandals.

Jibrin also issued a stern warning to criminals targeting educational facilities, stressing that strict measures have been put in place to apprehend and prosecute offenders.
