Ado Aleiro, the notorious bandit who was crowned Sarkin Fulani in Zamfara State’s Yantodo Emirate on Sunday, said he did not beg for the title bestowed upon him by the Zamfara State Emirate Council, Charmingpro reports.

He spoke with Charmingpro Correspondent via Deutche Welle (D.W) radio.

According to the Katsina Police Command, Aleiro, the bandits’ kingpin, was wanted for kidnapping and killing innocent people.

The Emir and the elders of the community decided to bestow the title on him so that he could prevent future attacks by his men.

However, only a few hours after they bestowed the title of Sarkin Fulani on him in the presence of the State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs and other Government functionaries, there were public condemnations, leading to the Emir’s suspension.

Alero, the bandits’ kingpin, told a foreign radio station on Sunday that he did not beg for the title, but that it was bestowed upon him by the community.

“Honestly, I didn’t seek the title; I was summoned by the Emirate, which I initially rejected,” he says.

“After discussions with our leaders about the development, they advised me not to turn down the offer because the new emir insisted it had to happen in his emirate; that is how I accepted it,” he explained.

He also denied being the mastermind of the killing of over 100 people in Kadisau village in Katsina State’s Faskari Local Government Area, saying he did not know who was responsible for the attack.
