The 4th richest man in the world, Bill Gates, has announced his divorce from his wife of 27 years, Melinda Gates.
Bill and Melinda announced their divorce on Twitter, stating “After a great deal of thought and a lot of work on our relationship, we have made the decision to end our marriage”.
“Over the last 27 years, we have raised three incredible children and built a foundation that works all over the world to enable all people to lead healthy, productive lives”.
Bill Gates who is worth $124 billion, jointly runs the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, an organisation which has invested billions of dollars on tackling issues including infectious diseases and promoting vaccinations in children.
According to the pair, “We continue to share a belief in that mission and will continue our work together at the foundation, but we no longer believe we can grow together as a couple in the next phase of our lives”.
Bill Gates and Melinda have asked for space and privacy for their family as “they begin to navigate this new life.”
