No fewer than 27 residents of Ebonyi State were empowered on Friday, January 3, 2026, as the Stephen & Judith Igwe International Education Foundation distributed motorcycles to beneficiaries drawn from various communities across the state.
The empowerment exercise, which forms part of the Foundation’s ongoing grassroots economic support initiatives, benefited young people, elderly individuals, and women, reflecting an inclusive approach to community development and livelihood enhancement.
The Foundation, owned by Hon. Stephen Uchenna Igwe and Chief Mrs. Judith Igwe, explained that the motorcycle empowerment programme was designed to improve mobility, support transportation needs, and enable beneficiaries to engage more effectively in their daily economic activities, particularly in rural and semi-urban areas.
The initiative also aligns with the people-focused development agenda of the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, His Excellency, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwaifuru, whose administration continues to prioritise empowerment and inclusive growth across the state.
One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Elom Vincent, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the Foundation, describing the gesture as timely and impactful.
“This motorcycle will help me greatly in my daily hustle. Transportation has been a major challenge for me, but with this support, I can now work better and provide for my family. I sincerely thank Hon. Stephen Igwe and his wife for remembering people like us,” he said.
Other beneficiaries also commended the Foundation for its consistent support, and appreciated the executive governor of the state for empowering the Hon. Commissioner to be able to empower them, noting that the empowerment would significantly ease their transportation challenges and improve their sources of livelihood.
The Stephen & Judith Igwe International Education Foundation reaffirmed its commitment to continuing initiatives that deliver practical, sustainable, and people-oriented support, while contributing meaningfully to socio-economic development across Ebonyi State.
