2025 AfroEuropa Gala & Awards Night UK celebrates diversity, unity and more...

The 2025 AfroEuropa Gala and Awards Night, an annual celebration of diversity, excellence, and cultural solidarity, lit up the Oasis Banqueting Suites in London, United Kingdom, with elegance, energy, and purpose.

Organised by Maureen Charming-Layokun, publisher of Charming Magazine, the fourth edition carried the inspiring theme: “Social Cohesion: Improving Connectedness and Solidarity.” The event brought together a distinguished gathering of community leaders, elders, entrepreneurs, and professionals, all united by a shared mission to strengthen inclusion, build understanding, and celebrate the rich blend of African and European identities.

The evening was masterfully hosted by Lady Doyin Ola, a multi-award-winning MC and event specialist, alongside comedian Emeka Smith, whose charm and wit kept guests entertained from start to finish.

The glamorous affair began with a red-carpet reception anchored by Deborah Kelly, where guests dazzled in elegant outfits, struck poses for the cameras, and shared heartfelt reflections in media interviews.

The event officially opened with a prayer by Yinka Akintunde, setting a reverent tone for the night. This was followed by thought-provoking keynote speeches:

Councillor Sunny Lambe emphasized the importance of social cohesion and the power of shared humanity.

Councillor Hillaria Asumu addressed the vital topic of organ donation and its impact on saving lives within diverse communities.

Their words struck a deep chord, highlighting the Gala’s essence, building stronger communities through compassion, understanding, and collaboration.

Guests were treated to a rich showcase of multicultural performances that truly captured the spirit of AfroEuropa.
From Katie’s captivating belly dance, to the Warmis Ecuador Troupe’s vibrant cultural display, and the rhythmic beats of the Oduduwa Talking Drummers, the night was a visual and auditory feast.
The PEACEFM Creative Hair Show also added flair with its stunning hat and hair artistry, a display of creativity and pride in African aesthetics.

The highlight of the night was the awards presentation, where outstanding individuals were recognised for their leadership, service, and impact in fostering unity and progress across communities. Each honouree’s story served as a reminder that leadership is not just about position, it’s about purpose, passion, and people.

In her closing remarks, Maureen Charming-Layokun expressed heartfelt gratitude to attendees, sponsors, and partners for their continued support of the AfroEuropa vision.

“AfroEuropa is more than just a celebration,” she said. “It’s a movement — one that inspires connection, understanding, and shared humanity across borders.”

The 2025 edition of the AfroEuropa Gala and Awards Night once again reinforced its reputation as a bridge between cultures, a platform that uplifts, unites, and reminds us that together, we can build a more inclusive world.
