Peter Obi

BudgIT’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr Seun Onigbinde, has begun a drive to raise N10 billion for Peter Obi’s presidential campaign.

Obi has stated that he will run for president in 2023 provided his party, the Peoples’ Democratic Party (PDP), agrees to zone the ticket to the South.

In a tweet, the IT expert stated that a GoFundMe account will be used to support the presidential candidate in the next elections.

According to him, many Nigerian youngsters believe the former governor is capable of leading the country out of its current economic difficulties.

This is coming a day after London-based publication “Financial Times” pegged the cost of electing a president in Nigeria at $2 billion, about N1 trillion.

Onigbinde explained that the crowdfunding would level the financial playing ground for Mr Obi, who is likely to contend with moneybags such as Bola Tinubu and Orji Uzor Kalu.

There are other independent candidates like Ms Khadijah Okunnu-Lamidi, Professor Christopher Imumolen and some others.
