Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party’s presidential candidate, has responded to former Ekiti State Governor Ayodele Fayose’s call for the south to produce the next president in 2023, Charmingpro reportsÂ
According to the reports, Fayose said on Wednesday that the PDP should allow for power rotation.
According to him, the PDP’s constitution allows for a rotating presidency.
In response, Atiku’s media aide, Paul Ibe, told newsmen on Thursday that the PDP presidential candidate will continue to appeal to those who have been wronged in the run-up to the 2023 election.
“I want to believe that Governor Fayose is a democrat, and as a member of the PDP, I am sure he is aware that the party has taken a position, and that position was taken by that party’s highest organ, the National Executive Committee, NEC, after a committee headed by Governor Samuel Ortom turned in his report,” he said.
“If he is aware of that process, he should also be aware that, following the position of the NEC ratifying the decision of the Ortom committee, a primary was held and a candidate emerged, and the expectation is that leaders like him and every member of the party will rally around the candidate to ensure victory in February 2023 when the presidential election will take place, which is the ultimate for the PDP.”
“If the PDP is unable to retire the APC, they will be unable to achieve all of their goals, including repairing Nigeria, which has been broken economically, politically, and socially by the APC administration’s seven years in power.”
“He should also understand that the party’s supremacy is far more important.” To be able to defeat the APC, everyone must rally behind the party. I’m not sure what Governor Fayose wants; perhaps another eight years of a clueless APC administration that has given nothing but poverty.”
“It started immediately after the primaries that produced his Excellency, Atiku Abubakar,” Ibe said of Atiku’s plans to reconcile disgruntled party members. He reached out to his fellow candidates, party stakeholders, and other party leaders. Reconciliation has continued even after the nomination process that produced Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the Vice Presidential candidate was completed.
“There will always be people who are dissatisfied in any contest, but there are processes in place to resolve it.”
