Fast rising Nigerian singer and SSA to the Kogi state Governor on Entertainment, Jumabee, has shared video of a beggar who escaped and returned to begging after he helped her.
According to him, he got her a home, furnished it and gave her money to start up a business. She reportedly sold everything in the house absconded and returned to begging.
He wrote,
“BE CAREFUL WHO YOU HELP!!!
If you are familiar with Kogi environ you will definitely know this woman..So some time last year during my birthday celebration, I was stuck in london due to the pandemic but I got my team to celebrate in my absence and of course they visited orphanages, shared items for vulnerable people, and I told myself that the only birthday gift I wanted was to take this woman and her kids off the street. So we got her an apartment, furnished it in our own capacity and gave her a token to start a small scale business. Sadly, she left the house in less than two weeks and sold all the items in the house. But she ran out of luck when a charity organisation reached out to me on facebook that they did the same thing for her and even went as far as enrolling her kids in a private school but she withdrew them and sold the items in her house again. So guys, I am pushing this video out not for anything but for everyone not to think we didn’t fulfill our promises as she’s back on the street so obviously this is a “GAME” for her. Be careful guys, things dey happen for Naija!”

One Boss Angeluo wrote, “So the thing is this, Interventions have to be tailored to the individuals needs. A quick needs assessment, involving the woman, her children and her relations would have helped you my friend Jumabee to tailor intervention that is sustainable. Let’s not be quick to judge. Ask the following questions. 1. What are her needs. 2. What intervention does she actually need following the assessment report. 3. How sustainable is the intervention. Which is why I always tell celebrities who do charity get an experienced programme person to always be on your team you will do better sustainable charity and avoid these kinds of setbacks. God bless you man!!!”
