Social media commentator and outspoken critic of the Ebonyi State Government, Nwoba Chika Nwoba, has listed individuals he described as influential figures operating around the governors of the five Southeast states.
Nwoba made the claims in a post shared on Facebook, where he identified what he described as “Government House cabals in Southeast currently,” while offering his assessment of the individuals he believes wield significant influence within the respective state governments.
In Enugu State, Nwoba listed Governor Peter Mbah, Secretary to the State Government Professor Chidiebere Onyia and Chief of Staff Barrister Victor Udeh. He described Onyia as the “de facto deputy governor,” alleging that he enjoys considerable influence and close confidence from the governor.
For Ebonyi State, Nwoba listed Governor Francis Nwifuru, his brother Fidelis Nwifuru, his wife Uzoamaka Nwifuru, Principal Secretary Matthias Adum, Chief of Staff Professor Emma Echiegu, Hon. SKE Udeokoye and Catholic priest Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka.
In his description of the Ebonyi administration, Nwoba made several strongly worded claims about the personalities he named. He alleged that Fidelis Nwifuru functions as the governor’s “de facto deputy governor,” while also claiming that Uzoamaka Nwifuru has significant influence within the administration.
He described Matthias Adum as a major figure behind what he considers shortcomings in the administration, while portraying Professor Emma Echiegu as a respected and non-confrontational figure close to Governor Nwifuru.
Nwoba also alleged that SKE Udeokoye, whom he said is from Awgu in Enugu State, enjoys the governor’s confidence and benefits significantly from his proximity to the administration.
He further claimed that Fr. Ejike Mbaka wields “enormous influence” over the Ebonyi Government, alleging that the cleric has the ability to exert considerable influence over Governor Nwifuru.
In Anambra State, Nwoba identified Governor Charles Soludo as the dominant figure in the administration, arguing that the governor maintains tight control over appointments and major decisions.
“Soludo is fully in charge. He sends nobody. He’s the all in all,” Nwoba wrote, adding that the governor personally exercises substantial influence over decisions concerning appointments.
For Imo State, Nwoba named Governor Hope Uzodimma and Nze Chinasa Nwaneri. He alleged that Nwaneri has considerable influence among political and street-level structures in the state and described him as an important figure within Uzodimma’s political network.
In Abia State, Nwoba listed Governor Alex Otti and Dr Uche Ogah, whom he described as someone considered a possible successor to Otti in 2031.
Nwoba’s post has generated attention on social media, particularly among political observers in the Southeast, where discussions about the influence of individuals surrounding state governors often generate controversy.
However, the claims made by Nwoba represent his personal assessment and allegations about the political influence of the individuals named. The post does not by itself establish that those identified operate as a formal “cabal” or that they exercise the specific powers attributed to them.
The governors and other individuals named in the post were not quoted as responding to the allegations in Nwoba’s Facebook publication.
