The Ooni of Ife, Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, has announced the birth of a baby girl with his wife, Olori Oluwatosin, adding another member to the royal family.
The revered monarch shared the joyful news in a post on his official Instagram page on Sunday, August 2, 2026, expressing gratitude to God for the safe delivery and confirming that both mother and daughter are in good health.
“To God Almighty be all the glory for His unfailing grace and the precious gift of new life,” the monarch wrote.
He also congratulated the House of Oduduwa on the arrival of the royal princess, offering prayers for her future.
“Hearty congratulations to the entire House of Oduduwa for the blessed arrival of a Royal Princess through Olori Oluwatosin.
“May the Almighty preserve this divine gift and cause her to flourish in wisdom, grace, and honour.
“We are pleased to share that both Olori Oluwatosin and the Royal Princess are in excellent health.”
The announcement has been met with congratulatory messages from traditional rulers, public figures, and well-wishers across Nigeria, many of whom have celebrated the expansion of the royal family.
The latest addition comes just three months after the Ooni welcomed twin princes with another of his wives, Olori Mariam Ajibola, further marking a period of celebration for the Ife royal household.
Oba Adeyeye Ogunwusi, who ascended the throne in 2015 as the 51st Ooni of Ife, remains one of Nigeria’s most prominent traditional rulers and is widely regarded as the spiritual leader of the Yoruba people. The birth of the royal princess adds another significant chapter to the history of the revered House of Oduduwa.
