Two Nigerians Arrested in Ghana Over Alleged Murder of Fellow Citizen Following Dispute Over Internet Fraud Proceeds

Two Nigerian nationals have been arrested by the Ghana Police Service over the alleged murder of a fellow Nigerian, Nkemujika Uzochukwu Eze, following a dispute over proceeds from suspected internet fraud activities.

In a statement issued on Sunday, July 12, 2026, the Northern Regional Police Command identified the suspects as Daniel Victor Eze and David Oko Ewa. According to the police, both men allegedly confessed during interrogation that they conspired to kill the 36-year-old victim after disagreements over the sharing of money reportedly generated from internet fraud.

The suspects were apprehended in Tamale, near the Ghana-Togo border, following an intelligence-led operation launched after Eze’s body was discovered in his bedroom on Saturday, July 11, 2026, in Sanzirigu, a suburb of Tamale.

Police said officers who responded to the scene found the victim lying lifeless with a deep cut wound on his forehead and a towel stuffed into his mouth. The bedroom had also been ransacked, suggesting there may have been a struggle before the attack.

During the investigation, detectives recovered a wooden pestle believed to have been used in the assault, along with other items that have been taken for forensic analysis.

The victim was transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital, where medical personnel confirmed him dead. His remains have since been deposited at the hospital’s mortuary pending an autopsy.

According to preliminary police findings, the deceased lived in a three-bedroom apartment with his wife, Peace Uzochukwu, the two suspects, and another Nigerian national identified as Godwin Nwafor.

The Northern Regional Police Command said investigations are ongoing to establish the full circumstances surrounding the incident, while the suspects are expected to face prosecution in accordance with Ghanaian law.
